Cases of anemia in pregnant women and children up to 35 months of age in the Loreto district of Puinahua to significantly reduced during 2024thanks to the "United against anemia" project promoted by PetroTal and other strategic actors.

The results of the fieldwork show that anemia in children under three years of age went from 36.6% in May 2024 to 16.6% in December of the same year, i.e., a 20 percentage point reduction.

"United against anemia" is a project promoted by the operator of the Lot 95in partnership with the national programs Cuna Más and Plataformas de Acción para la Inclusión Social (PAIS), the Regional Health Management of Loreto, the Health Micro-Network of Brittany and the District Municipality of Puinahua.

The articulation between the company and the public institutions made possible the development of joint actions that benefit the target populationAmong these actions were screening, vitamin supplements, monitoring, nutritional counseling, demonstration sessions, among others.

The Ministry of Health warns that anemia can cause serious health problemsThe risk of premature delivery and the birth of underweight children, in the case of pregnant women. In children under 35 months of age, this disease may cause poor development, growth and school performance, among other problems.

In this regard, the company indicated that the joint efforts that drove the project will have a concrete impact on the well-being of its neighbors, especially the next generations.
