- UNAP students competed in the regional stage of the Petrobowl, in Brazil, with the support of PetroTal, and advanced to the world phase.
The team from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP) qualified for the world stage of the Petrobowl, The world's most important student competition in petroleum engineering, geology, energy and other fields.
With the support of PetroTal, operator of the Lot 95, UNAP students, who are members of the student organization SPE UNAP, traveled to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) for compete in the regional stage of the competition organized annually by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Their hard work and preparation made them qualify for the world finals, which will be held in October in Houston (USA).

The UNAP team - composed of Guillermo Peña Huayas (captain), Alberht Romero Tang, Maribel Ricopa Araníbar, Natalia Mecca Alva and Alexa Matute Vásquez - managed to position itself among the best in the world. six best teams from 21 universities in Latin America and the Caribbean who participated in the regional stage. The delegation also counted with the participation of its SPE UNAP president, Antoni Romaní, who presented a scientific paper and with the support of Anita Ojanama Nacimento.
The first edition of the Petrobowl was held in 2002 and has since grown in size and popularity. This competition is an excellent opportunity for students to to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the hydrocarbon industry., but also allows them to get in touch with professionals and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the sector.

For PetroTal, the support to the Loreto delegation is a new contribution to the educational development and the generation of opportunities for the region's talents. The company has a scholarship program that currently benefits 100 higher education students in the Puinahua district.
In addition to UNAP, the following universities also qualified: Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Universidad del Estado de Santa Catarina (Brazil), Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Universidad Federal Fluminense (Brazil).
