Buenaventura Vilchez left his native Huánuco to embark on a journey to the Puinahua. He tells us that since he moved to Bretaña, persuaded by his wife, he dedicated himself to artisanal fishing, which led him to become a member of the board of the Organización Social de Pescadores y Procesadores Artesanales (OSPPA) - Bretaña.

One of the difficulties Buenaventura encountered was the scarcity of ice in his locality, which forced him to buy and transport it from Iquitos, causing the cost of selling his fish to rise.

Aware of this situation and in coordination with the District Municipality of Puinahua, we provided materials for the adaptation of a refrigeration system to be implemented in a space provided by the Municipality.

Together with other members of OSPPA Brittany, including Francisco Sampaya, president of the organization, Buenaventura received with great enthusiasm and motivation the materials that we delivered for the assembly and subsequent start-up of the first ice plant in Brittany.

Buenaventura comments: “An ice bar in Iquitos costs 8 soles and here in Brittany it costs 20 soles, this project excites us; it will be a challenge for us, but it makes us want to work even harder, now we are going to bring fresh fish from the lakes with our own ice”.
