At the Fair held in Brittany.
The residents of Bretaña, capital of Puinahua (Loreto), went to the ice plant, located in Barrio Bajo, to buy fresh paiche at an affordable price.
This "Paiche Fair" was held as part of the campaign for the extraction of this species carried out by artisanal fishermen from three management groups gathered in the Social Organization of Artisanal Fishermen and Processors (OSPPA) Arahuana Fish. The paiche is harvested in a sustainable and planned manner in fishing seasons that take place once a year. The fishermen receive training and support from PetroTal, operator of Lot 95, and the Despensa Amazónica civil association.
The Paiche Fair brings this nutritious food to the families of Brittany and strengthens the relationship between fishermen and the community. The white meat of the enormous fish is also demanded by PetroTal, markets and restaurants in Iquitos and by haute cuisine establishments in Lima, among others.
