• Cofide and PetroTal promote a program that seeks to generate economic dynamism and opportunities for progress in the oil district, located in Loreto.

With the aim of promoting greater local economic development, the Development Bank of Peru (Cofide) and PetroTal, the operator of Block 95, entered into an agreement with the resource channeling contract to implement the Inclusive Rural Enterprise Development Program (Prider) in the district of Puinahua (Loreto).

The Prider is looking for to set up the Credit and Savings Unions (UNICA), These are organizations made up of between 10 and 30 inhabitants of the same locality or community, who join together to promote their economic and social development through savings and the promotion of productive enterprises.

UNICA members receive financial literacy support, training and comprehensive assistance to develop agricultural, aquaculture and fishing activities, ranging from cultivation or extraction to the sale of their products.

As of February, the training of UNICAs in localities and communities district with the goal of creating 18 organizations. Thanks to the population's support, this goal has already been reached by 70%.

“The savings of the members themselves will be the seed for new local ventures in different areas,” explains Luis Puelles Lozada, financial monitor in charge of UNICA training in Puinahua.

Together with Luis Puelles, two production monitors specialized in agriculture and aquaculture will tour the district to tell the families about the requirements and benefits of joining to a program that seeks to promote progress opportunities for families in the district where PetroTal operates.
