▫︎ Punchi Warmi is seeking to expand the ice production plant that it successfully manages in Bretaña, the capital of Loreto's district.

The Regional Government of Loreto -through the PROCOMPITE competitive fund- will finance, with approximately S/ 131,000a project led by a group of women entrepreneurs from the district of Puinahua that make up the company Punchi Warmi , Quechua word meaning "Strength of a woman".

The company Punchi Warmi is administered and comprised of 15 puinahuinas which are part of the Fishing Innovation Project promoted by PetroTal -operator of Lot 95-, the civil association Despensa Amazónica, SERNANP, the District Municipality of Puinahua, among others.

Punchi Warmi is responsible for the management and operation of Loreto's only 100% solar-powered ice production plant. Its project aims to to expand the ice plant's production capacity.

The factory produces flake ice, a product in high local demand that plays a vital role in the fishing industry by ensuring the cold chain for the transfer, mainly of the paiche, to the markets in Iquitos, Pucallpa and others.

The project is the first business plan for a organization made up entirely of women from Loreto that wins PROCOMPITE funding to leverage a profitable, inclusive and sustainable project.

The objective of your project is to expanding the ice plant's production capacity and its power supply from photovoltaic panels. Flake ice is in high demand because it plays a vital role in the local fishing industry by ensuring an optimal cold chain for transporting, mainly, paiche to the markets of Iquitos, Pucallpa and others.

PetroTal supported the implementation of the ice plant and the development of training for the ice plants. Punchi Warmi, who lead an enterprise that provides them with income and valuable learning to improve their quality of life and that of their families.

It should be recalled that the Fisheries Innovation Project promotes the sustainable and planned paiche fishing in Puinahua, the district where the Brittany North Field of Lot 95 is located, to strengthen the fishermen's capacities and make better use of the meat of this enormous river fish.
