PetroTal, a Peruvian-led and operated company, announced that its 2022 annual production was 12,200 barrels of oil per day (bopd), an increase of 36% over the 2021 result.
Likewise, the company that operates the Bretaña Norte field in Block 95 recorded a production record of more than 26,000 bopd, a figure reached in June last year. In the case of the 2P (proven plus probable) reserves of Block 95, last year a growth of 24% was recorded, reaching 97 million barrels, which ensures sustained production.
"We are proud of the performance achieved in 2022, it was a year in which the company demonstrated its resilience to face various challenges. We are satisfied with our operating and financial results, as well as with the strength of the company," said Luis Pantoja, PetroTal's general manager.
The company also announced the expansion of the capacity of the barge fleet that transports its production. This will allow it to maintain greater productivity in the operation of the Bretaña Norte field, which last year was the largest crude oil producer in the country.
In the last days of February PetroTal increased its production due to the normalization of barges entering Lot 95, therefore, in March of this year it reached an average of approximately 20,500 bopd.
Luis Pantoja also highlighted the publication of Supreme Decree N° 006-2023-EM which authorizes the modification of the Lot 95 License Contract to include the clause establishing the Development Fund for the Puinahua District.
The general manager of the oil company stated that the fund will directly link the growth of oil activity in Puinahua and the progress of the district through the rapid, transparent and participatory execution of projects that will improve the quality of life and opportunities of the population.
