October 16, 2023. The population of the Puinahua district of Loreto, where the Brittany North Field of Block 95 is located, continues to receive the benefits of a modern, responsible and sustainable oil industry, with the start of the delivery of Social Solidarity Support to all citizens previously registered under the Development Fund for the Puinahua District (Fund 2.5) promoted by PetroTal.
This was stated by Guillermo Flórez, PetroTal's general manager, during the first day of delivery of this bonus, which is a reality thanks to the 2.5 Fund -to which the company contributes 2.5% of the value of its controlled oil production, which will finance the initiatives and projects prioritized by the Fund's Board of Directors, formed by Perupetro, the District Municipality of Puinahua (MDP), the Puinahua Autonomous Board (JAP) and the Indigenous Association for the Development and Conservation of Lower Puinahua (Aidecobap), together with the Consultative Committee made up of representatives from each of the district's towns, hamlets and communities.
In total, more than 3800 citizens -registered by the JAP, Aidecobap and MDP- will receive a contribution of S/ 2000 each, which will imply an investment of approximately 8 million soles, which will be injected directly into the district's economy and will mean an important support for low-income families.
PetroTal, a company led and operated by Peruvians, has been making biweekly deposits to the 2.5 Fund, whose resources currently total more than S/. 38 million, and has been actively accompanying and supporting the fund's board of directors in order to deliver the expected Social Solidarity Support.
Guillermo Flórez, accompanied by officials from Perupetro and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), supervised the normal development of the delivery of this benefit. "The 2.5 Fund has to be a mechanism that ensures the welfare and progress of the population that lives with the oil industry, but also a promoter of social peace and new investments. We want it to be a model for the reactivation of the industry, especially in the Loreto region", he remarked.
10,883 bopd in the III quarter
On the other hand, PetroTal reported that in the third quarter of the year it reached an average production of 10,883 barrels of oil per day (bopd) despite the adverse weather conditions, reflected in the low flow of the river, which hinders the transit of the barges that transport the crude.
With the normalization of river traffic expected between November and December, the company expects to increase its sales level and come closer to the projections it has set for this year, said Guillermo Flórez.
PetroTal also plans to drill a new well next November, as well as the development of a new route for the transportation of its oil production, which, if completed, will be an important support to achieve its commercial objectives, he added.
Finally, PetroTal's general manager highlighted the preliminary capture of the criminal gang "Los Crudos", which perpetrated attacks against the Norperuvian Oil Pipeline (ONP). After this capture, it is estimated that the cuts to the pipelines will cease and, consequently, ONP operations could be reactivated with greater reliability.
