He ratified his willingness to continue the dialogue to formally create the Development Fund for the Puinahua District.
PetroTal, the Peruvian-led and operated company that operates Block 95, welcomed the agreement to restore social peace and public order in the district of Puinahua (Requena, Loreto), following the protest promoted by the Indigenous Association for the Development and Conservation of Bajo Puinahua (AIDECOBAP).
In a meeting held yesterday in Bretaña, capital of Puinahua, representatives of the Puinahua Board of Authorities (JAP), AIDECOBAP and social actors of the district held a fruitful dialogue that allowed the lifting of the strike against the company.
PetroTal highlighted that this is a first big step to resume the Technical Round Table of Lot 95, a space for dialogue where the company works with both organizations and the State.
Likewise, he reaffirmed his willingness to sign the addendum to the license contract for Block 95 to create the Puinahua District Development Fund, an initiative of the company to which it voluntarily allocates the value of 2.5% of its crude oil production to finance projects and interventions for the benefit of the entire population as long as there are no stoppages due to social conflicts.
To date, the fund has more than S/. 26 million and in a scenario of full operation of Block 95, as well as uninterrupted oil transportation in the district, it could reach S/. 100 million by the end of 2023.
To ensure the sustainability and growth of the fund, PetroTal proposes to include in the wording of the addendum the commitment that the contributions will be made as long as the activity of Block 95 and the transportation of its production in the district are carried out normally and without stoppages due to social conflicts.
