In its 2021 ESG Report, it detailed its sustained growth in the Brittany North Block 95 field.
PetroTal, a Peruvian-led and operated company, highlighted the 2030 Sustainability Plan it has developed with the purpose of consolidating its growth and generating "value for the company, society and the planet" in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In its ESG Report 2021, it specified that its Sustainability Plan also promotes best practices in Lot 95 to, among others, maximize its positive economic, environmental and social impact, based on four work axes, which are: Commitment to the environment, shared value, governance and safe operations.
"We are proud of our purpose, values and corporate policies that contemplate putting people first with the firm objective of generating shared value through our continuous contribution to the development of our assets and the communities surrounding our operation in Peru," said Luis Pantoja, PetroTal's general manager.
Luis Pantoja pointed out that the 2021 report, available at www.petrotal.pe represents an "important step forward" for the company because it has been prepared taking into account the criteria of the Global Reporting Initiative ("GRI"), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board ("SASB"), as well as the SDGs.
In the report, the company highlights its proposal to create the Puinahua District Development Fund - where the Bretaña Norte del Lote 95 field (Loreto) is located - to finance basic infrastructure projects such as health, education, housing, agriculture, access to energy, food, among others, for the benefit of the entire population.
The Boards of Directors of PetroTal and Perupetro have approved the addendum to the Lot 95 License Contract that formalizes the creation of the fund to which the company has been making contributions since last January. The most representative social organizations of Puinahua (JAP and Aidecobap) have supported the addendum that now must go through approvals in different instances of the Executive for the signature between the company and Perupetro to take place.
Production
PetroTal's rapid and sustained growth is shown in the report, which details that the company reached an average production of almost 9,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) in 2021. That result is well above the 2020 average (5,674 bopd) and the 2019 average (4,131 bopd).
"In just five years, the company has increased its production from zero to records of more than 25,000 bopd, with the ESG concept being an integral part of our strategy and decision making in the short and long term," said Luis Pantoja.
