PetroTal announced the commissioning of its new horizontal well 17Hwith a vertical depth of 2,700 meters and a lateral section of more than 1,200 meters, in the Brittany North field of the Lot 95 (Loreto), currently the country's main crude oil producer.

The 17H well, which began producing on March 9, 2009, and required an investment of US$ 14 million approximately reached an average production of 3,619 barrels of oil per day (bopd) in flowing condition (natural flow) during the first seven days of production, and a higher yield is still expected once the electro submersible pump (ESP) already installed in the well is started up.

The operator of Lot 95, which commenced operations in 2018, is also drilling well 18HThe plant, with an investment of close to US$$ 14 million, is scheduled to start production in mid-May.

Guillermo Flórez, PetroTal's general manager, emphasized that the company continues to invest at a steady pace to achieve the target set for 2024, which is to obtain an average production of 17,000 bopd.

He also highlighted that the project to establish a new commercial route through Ecuador's Heavy Crude Oil Pipeline (OCP) is progressing steadily. "A final authorization is pending to start the first pilot for the transportation of an initial batch of 100,000 barrels of oil", said Guillermo Flórez. 

Humanitarian support to the population of Puinahua

PetroTal highlighted the speed and efficiency of clean-up work in affected areas The oil leaked after the collision of two barges owned by a third party on March 5 in the Puinahua River. More than 120 local workers and special equipment were deployed to the locations for the cleanup.
