The District Municipality of Puinahua (MDP) gave a pole vault to the to reach 86% of execution of its public investment budget by 2024. financed with canon and oil surcharge. This figure is more than four times its 2023 performance (21.4%), according to figures from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

One of the main causes of this increased and more efficient budget execution is the capacity building program for municipal officials promoted by PetroTal, with the purpose of optimize the use of the oil canon and surcanon.

Since 2024, Puinahua is the district of Loreto with the higher canon and oil surcharge transfers thanks to the production of the Brittany Field of Block 95, operated by PetroTal, and the new law on the distribution of these resources at the regional level.

Puinahua received last year S/. 22.6 million from canon and oil surcharges, According to the MEF, and the execution of these resources exceeded S/. 19.4 million, which allowed for the financing of basic works and services for the benefit of the population.

An efficient budget execution of the canon and surcharge contributes substantially to closing gaps, to the attention of the most vulnerable populations and to general wellbeing. In the case of Puinahua, this performance was made possible by the support, counseling and training provided to its employees.  

The level of execution achieved in Puinahua placed its municipality among the best in the world. greater efficiency in public investment at the national level, The company's operations in the country's mining-energy sector, surpassing other districts that also receive large transfers of royalties generated by the country's mining-energy sector.
