*This is almost double the oil canon transferred to the region last year as a result of PetroTal's activity.

According to Perupetro's figures, more than S/. 200 million of the oil royalty transferred by the Government to Loreto in 2022 came from the operation of Block 95 by PetroTal.

This figure is almost double the royalty received by the region in 2021 for the company's activity in the Bretaña Norte field, located in the Puinahua district, which is currently the largest national producer of this fundamental raw material.  

The oil canon finances access to basic services, infrastructure construction, scientific research, among other activities and interventions aimed at the region's progress.

In Loreto, the oil canon is distributed to the Regional Government, provincial and local municipalities, the National University of the Peruvian Amazon and the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute.

Development Fund for the district of Puinahua

In order to promote more efficient and rapid development in its direct area of influence, PetroTal has established the Puinahua District Development Fund to which it allocates the value of 2.5% of its controlled oil production.

The company makes contributions to the fund as of January 2022, provided that there are no stoppages to oil production or transportation in the district due to social conflict. These contributions are independent of the payment of royalties, taxes and PetroTal's social investment.

In order to reactivate the economy of Puinahua and provide support to families, PetroTal provided the population with the Voluntary Economic Solidarity Contribution from the Development Fund resources. The delivery, carried out between September and October 2022, required more than S/. 4 million. 

Surtax for Ucayali

According to Perupetro, of the oil surcharge transferred to Ucayali during 2022, more than S/. 50 million corresponds to the operation of Block 95. As in Loreto, there was a significant increase compared to 2021, when PetroTal's activity generated around S/ 26 million of surcanon for that region. It is worth noting that the overcanon contribution made to Ucayali is an obligation established by law.
