PetroTal's initiative allowed the children to create their own plays with messages aimed at keeping their locality clean and respecting the flora and fauna of their surroundings.

More than 470 kindergarten and elementary school children from the Puinahua district (Loreto) became actors in short, entertaining plays aimed at promoting a culture of environmental care inside and outside their homes.

This was a new playful and educational initiative of PetroTal, a company led and operated by Peruvians, which sought -through art and games- to instill valuable messages such as the importance of throwing waste in the garbage garbage cans and recycling materials to keep the localities, rivers and lakes clean.

Respect for flora and fauna was another of the pillars of the workshops held last week, where workshop participants taught the children how to protect the forests and prevent wild species from being treated as pets, among other things.

These messages and advice were expressed in games, dynamics, songs, dances and, finally, in plays where the children played hunters, chullachaquis, monkeys, otorongos, paiches, among a variety of Amazonian characters and animals that conveyed messages about the care and respect for the environment.

The workshops - which were adapted to the culture of the children and their environment - were held in the classrooms of schools and community centers in the towns of Huacrachiro, Bellavista, 7 de Junio, San Carlos, Manco Cápac, San Juan de Páucar, Áncash, San Pedro II and San Miguel. The teachers of the participants expressed their satisfaction with the initiative that entertained and made their students reflect on aspects that will influence their daily lives.

Wilson Reátegui, teacher of the educational institution (IE) N° 60708 of Huacrachiro, highlighted the importance of children knowing how to manage waste so that unused plastics are deposited in garbage cans. Wilber Tamani, teacher of the IE N° 60707 of San Miguel, emphasized that the workshops have been adapted to the reality of the children of Puinahua.

PetroTal is firmly committed to the care and preservation of the environment and, especially, of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The workshops are part of its efforts to share and expand its culture of environmental protection to the residents of Puinahua, the district where the company's Bretaña Norte del Lote 95 field is located.
