- The company received a certificate for first place in the GAIA SPE Peru 2024-2025 Sustainability Awards..
PetroTal, operator of the Lot 95 (Loreto), received the certificate that accredits the first place in the Sustainability Grand Prix category of the GAIA SPE PERU 2024-2025 awards that it obtained last May, during the Peru Energy Forum.
The award was given for the project “Public-private alliance to promote the sustainable use of prioritized resources of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve - Environmental Compensation Plan”.
This plan aims to contribute to the conservation of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. and promote the sustainable development of the local populations, mainly in the Puinahua district, where PetroTal operates.
The Environmental Compensation Plan is part of the environmental impact study for the development of the Brittany North Field of Block 95 and is executed through a joint effort between PetroTal and the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp), within the framework of an institutional cooperation agreement.
GAIA SPE Peru emphasized that the plan “is a example that should be replicated by more companies in the extractive sector committed to sustainability”.
Guillermo Flórez, PetroTal's general manager, stated that this recognition demonstrates that the articulated and ongoing work with Sernanp is making progress in meeting the objectives of the plan.
The implementation of the plan is reflected in actions such as the taricaya conservation, formal paiche fishing, surveillance patrols and species monitoring., among other sustainable activities in the reserve.
