• *The “Punchi Warmi” received new knowledge for a better and more efficient management of the ice plant in Brittany.

The “Punchi Warmi” organization, made up of some twenty women entrepreneurs from Puinahua, received intensive training to operate more efficiently the ice plant it manages in Bretaña, capital of the district where the Bretaña Norte del Lote 95 field is located.

With PetroTal's support, the women learned in greater detail about all the components of the solar-powered factory and how to operate the electrical system and the equipment that produces flake ice.

This training, which took place within the framework of the agreement signed between PetroTal and Despensa Amazónica, allowed the Punchi Warmi to be better prepared to meet the demand for ice from the fishermen and neighbors of Puinahua, which will make the operation more profitable for the benefit of the entrepreneurs, their families and their community.

The Punchi Warmi (a word that means “woman's strength”) organization is part of the Fishing Innovation Project that promotes sustainable and planned extraction of paiche in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, as well as the creation of added value to generate more benefits for fishermen and their families.

The Fishing Innovation Project includes training and support for Puinahua fishermen and the generation of new development opportunities for paiche, with the support of PetroTal and important allies such as Despensa Amazónica, Sernanp, CITE Productivo Maynas, among others.

The flake ice plant -established with PetroTal's contribution- ensures the cold chain for the optimal transfer of paiche meat and derived products such as hamburgers, sausage and nuggets, The products are in high demand in local markets and in restaurants of haute cuisine.
