- Midagri's Agromercado Program recognized the efforts and trajectory of Rosa Arirama, manager of Las Puinahuinas, an enterprise supported and accompanied by PetroTal.
With emotion and pride, Rosa Arirama Tamani, manager of Las Puinahuinas -a company made up of eleven women from the native community of Ancash, in the Loreto district of Puinahua-, received the “Heroes of the Countryside” award.”, The award recognizes agrarian leaders throughout the country.
The Puinahuinas are dedicated to the artisanal production of plantain flour, and cassava, an ideal product for making breads, cakes, mazamorras and other nutritious foods. Their venture receives support and technical assistance from PetroTal, operator of the Lot 95.
The award ceremony was held as part of the activities for the Day of the Farmer in Iquitos, The program was implemented by the Agromercado program of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).
“I feel very happy and joyful to have won the award. We have worked hard, we are improving the product. PetroTal is supporting us with training and equipment,” said Arirama Tamani.
In turn, Lucy Tamani, a partner of The Puinahuinas and one of its founders, she recalled that she has been a 20 years producing plantain flour and acknowledged the leap they have made with the company's support.
“We used to sell at one sol or sol fifty (a kilo), now we sell at 10 soles a kilo. We have been trained and then we are improving, We have a sanitary registration, I never thought I would have this production”,
PetroTal provides a sustained support for Las Puinahuinas through technical training and the implementation of equipment for the production of their flour, which is currently marketed packaged and sealed locally and regionally. In addition, with the company's support, the businesswomen have participated in fairs such as Expoalimentaria in Lima and in various venues in Iquitos.
