An important and necessary medical campaign will be carried out in all localities, communities and hamlets of Puinahua, from January 23 to February 4, to fight anemia in infants under 3 years of age and pregnant women.
This disease is caused by a lack of iron in the body, which usually results in low levels of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, according to information from the Ministry of Health.
Patients with anemia often have poor physical and cognitive development that limits their health status and opportunities throughout their lives. For this reason, PetroTal -operator of Lot 95-, the National Program Cuna Más, the Regional Health Management (GERESA) of Loreto, ACLAS and the District Municipality of Puinahua have joined forces to carry out a free 100% campaign starting next Monday.
Pregnant women and parents of babies under 3 years of age should go to the health center with their ID card and their child's ID card for anemia screening and control. If symptoms of the disease are detected, they will receive supplements and guidance to improve their nutrition.
