This is evidenced by the recent approval of the update of the fishery management program (Promape) for paiche carried out by these fishermen. Promape promotes the responsible, planned extraction, with good practices and regulation of the species. to avoid threatening or degrading their habitat.

The fishermen grouped in Arahuana Fish are part of the Fisheries Innovation ProjectThe project is supported by private actors, such as PetroTal and the Asociación Civil Despensa Amazónica, and public actors, such as Sernanp and the Municipality of Puinahua.

Specialists from the Regional Production Directorate (Direpro) of Loreto evaluated the program, performance and results of fishermen and fisherwomen in the region. they found that they are developing a sustainable activity in the Yarina oxbow lake.. This evaluation also had the favorable opinion of Sernanp and the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP).

The updated Promape establishes recommendations and opportunities for improvement to optimize the fishermen's work and contemplates a duration of five years, which allows them to have a better projection and planning.
