Lima, December 15, 2022. PetroTal, a company led and operated by Peruvians, informed that the addendum to the License Contract for Block 95, agreed between the company and Perupetro, which creates the Development Fund for the Puinahua district, obtained the support of the most representative social organizations of the district - Puinahua Authorities Board (JAP) and the Indigenous Association for Development and Conservation of Bajo Puinahua (Aidecobap) - during the sixth session of the Block 95 Technical Round Table held yesterday in Loreto.
The agreed text, which will become clause 24 of the contract signed between PetroTal and Perupetro, formalizes the voluntary contribution of 2.5% of the value of the controlled oil production of Block 95 that the company has been making since last January and which has allowed it to accumulate around S/. 26 million as of November.
According to the addendum, these resources will be destined "solely and exclusively to the execution of development projects in the communities, localities and/or hamlets of the Puinahua district" in order to bring welfare to the population, as was the case with the delivery of the Voluntary Economic Solidarity Contribution to which PetroTal allocated more than S/. 4 million from the fund.
At the session, the members of the technical roundtable -PCM, MINEM, Perupetro, PetroTal, JAP and Aidecobap- committed themselves to "preserve social peace" in Puinahua and to "immediately lift the measures of force" to ensure the continuity of the company's operations in the Brittany field of Lot 95 and the free transit of crude oil transportation in the district. In this regard, Aidecobap undertook to coordinate the reestablishment of public order in the district.
With the lifting of the strike, PetroTal expects to recover its production to reach 18,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) again in the remainder of the year. Thus, the company expects to reach an average of between 8,000 and 9,000 bopd in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Finally, the members of the technical committee, created by Ministerial Resolution No. 144-2022-MINEM/DM, agreed to discuss the fund's regulations and the formation of its Board of Directors in the next sessions, requesting that these sessions be held in the town of Bretaña, capital of Puinahua.
