Two aquaculture companies in Puinahua (Loreto) reached an important milestone this year: to sell more than one ton of paiche raised in natural shallows using a floating cage system. Both have support and technical assistance from PetroTal, operator of the Brittany Field of Block 95.

The company Criadores de Peces de Páucar SAC, from the hamlet of San Juan de Páucar, the sale of half a ton of paiche to Sodexo, which supplies food to workers at Camp Brittany. The product met the quality standards of Sodexo, which also has commercial relationships with several local producers.

Criadores de Peces de Urarinas, formed by residents of the Urarinas native community, sold 653 kilos of paiche in the Iquitos markets, obtaining competitive prices. Its infrastructure and cultivation method has permits and validation from the Regional Production Directorate of Loreto, which highlighted the use of floating cages as an efficient and innovative technique.
